This year the activities have been divided into five sections. These sections include the areas the UN is tracking to asses whether MDG3 is being achieved:

    1. Group warm-up activities
    2. Developing self-esteem and self-confidence
    3. Learning together to change the world
    4. Living and working for a fairer world
    5. Girls and young women as decision-makers

There is also a special ‘Speaking out’ section to learn how to advocate on issues that concern girls and young women.

The activity pack can been downloaded from this website in English, French and Spanish.

We also have a long list of fundraising ideas to make your events as successful as possible. Don’t miss the fundraising tips!

My Guides Young Leaders managed to collect enough money by selling chocolates for valentine's day, where they provide delivary service within the school to hold a telematch in conjunction with WTD for the brownies all around our school this 12th of March...hope it would be a success. The activity has been upgraded as the District Education Department's co-curicular activity. Bravo girls....keep up with the good work.

We will be celebrating Thinking day a week early due to a spring break holiday. We are having a bridging activity that includes our Spark, Brownie, Guide, and Pathfinder girls. The girls will be learning about the four world centers, W.A.G.G.G.S and C.W.F.F as well as the doing some activities related to Empowering Girls and the four countries chosen for this. I always look forward to teaching the girls about the partnership we as Guides have with Girls and Women all over the world.

Our Cadette troop is hosting WTD this year for our service unit. Each participating troop is researching a country and will have music, food, a craft and a SWAP that represents the country they chose. They will also be providing information about Girl Scouts/Guides in that country. The Cadette troop will be focusing on the 4 countries with our World Centers. I can't wait to see what the troops come up with!!

Our Brownies are learning about micro-loans by actually receiving a "loan" of $5 from the troop treasury. They will work individually or in groups for two weeks to create their own "business opportunity". Ideas include pancake breakfasts, making birdhouses, pet washing, and more. Should be fun to see what they do! All proceeds will go to the WTD fund. We hope they will learn that even 7-8 year olds have the power to make a difference in their world.
